Product description

Chronic laminitis can be a very difficult disease to treat, however, by using natural treatments, the success rate may increase significantly.

Laminitis is the inflammation of the laminae tissue inside the hoof resulting in extreme pain and reluctance to move in some cases.

Mane Event’s herbal blend LAMINITIS LIFTER works to assist in the removal of toxins from the body to contain their devitalising effect on the laminae as well as help assist with correcting intestinal health and providing natural pain relief.

Dosage

30g daily mixed into feed per 500kg horse

In extreme cases this may be doubled for a loading period of 3-5 days.

Laminitis Lifter herbal blend is safe to use as a long-term preventative/maintenance tool and is effective and affordable.

Laminitis Lifter contains four main natural ingredients;

  • Dandelion for detoxifying and cleansing the blood (to assist in the removal of toxins).
  • St Mary’s Thistle Powder for its remarkable protective and restorative properties for the liver.
  • Rosehip for its exceedingly high Vitamin C content which may alleviate stress of all kinds. Rosehips are also a circulatory stimulant particularly in dense capillary beds (such as the coronet band of the foot which is compromised by laminitis).
  • White Willow Bark Powder for a natural pain reliever without the side effects of many modern-day drugs and as an extremely good anti-inflammatory.

Pasture-induced Laminitis

Spring & Autumn (in most areas of Australia) brings with it an influx of lush, green pasture that grows at a rapid rate.

So how can this potentially result in Laminitis?

  1. These pastures typically have a high moisture and soluble sugar content that generally causes a laxative effect when consumed by the horse
  2. This laxative effect increases the rate in which food is digested and commonly results in loose manure
  3. This high rate of passage through the small intestine reduces the time for enzymatic digestion of soluble sugars and starch
  4. Excess sugars and starch are passed through to the large intestine
  5. Uncontrolled fermentation in the large intestine (hindgut) of excess sugar and starch results in build-up of D-lactic acid
  6. D-Lactic acid can trigger onset of Laminitis and Hindgut Acidosis
  7. Circulating toxins are thought to have a direct effect on reducing blood flow to the laminae and reducing vitality of basement membrane cells in the laminae that provide structural support within the hooves. Source: Feeding Horses in Australia, RIRDC, ACT.

Feeding Laminitis Lifter once daily can help alleviate these symptoms as it works to remove circulating toxins from the body. Once a horse or pony has acquired Laminitis, they are more susceptible to future episodes. Prevention is always better than a cure. Laminitis Lifter is recommended as a preventative measure as well as a maintenance treatment.
